Security forces detected an improvised explosive device (IED) in Jammu and Kashmir's Sopore on Tuesday. After the IED was detected, an anti-bomb squad was called to defuse the IED and the road was closed for traffic movement.

An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was detected by joint teams of security forces in Tulibal area of Sopore in North Kashmir's Baramulla district on Tuesday morning. Officials said that a joint team of police along with the Army's Rashtriya Rifles detected an IED at Tulibal along Sopore-Kupwara bypass road.Shortly after the detection of the IED, traffic was halted and the movement of people was restricted, he said. A Bomb Disposal Squad was rushed to the spot and defused the IED.

On December 6, an IED was recovered in South Kashmir’s Shopian district. A top police officer told India today that an IED was recovered by a joint team of police and the Army in the Shirmal area in Shopian. The police suspect the IED to be part of a terror attack plot.

Last month, an IED was found in North Kashmir's Bandipore district, which was also successfully diffused by a bomb squad.
